Alert Details

A low pressure system will be emerging into the far western Plains late this week and into next weekend. Meanwhile, northwest flow is expected to remain dominant over the northern Plains, upper Midwest, and Great Lakes region. As a result, any black cutworm migration risks should be confined to where southerly winds are possible, or mainly in the far southwest portion of the corn-growing region from Kansas and Nebraska east into perhaps southwest Iowa and Missouri from Friday night into early next week. Given expected precipitation in this same region and generally lighter wind speeds, only isolated moth flights are predicted at this time.
