Alert Details

With northwest flow beginning to take over across much of the corn-growing region, black cutworm migration risks are very limited to none until we get into next week and the next weather system develops across the Plains states. Low risks return to the Plains Sunday night into Monday and then spread east to near the I-35 corridor from eastern Minnesota south through Iowa and into Missouri by Monday night and Tuesday as southerly winds develop and move east ahead of the new low pressure system. Growers with newly-emerged corn should actively scout fields given numerous moth flights in April and into early May that may now be producing new generations.
