Alert Details

An active weather pattern between now and into early next week may provide some opportunities for black cutworm migration into several portions of the corn-growing region. No less than two separate weather systems are expected to traverse the area, with the first already bringing a Low migration risk overnight tonight into tomorrow from Kansas and Missouri as far north as eastern South Dakota, Minnesota, and western Wisconsin. Low risks continue ahead of a cold front tomorrow night into Friday especially from central Kansas, eastern Nebraska, and Minnesota as far east as Lake Michigan and the I-57 corridor in eastern Illinois. A brief break in the risks are anticipated over much of the weekend, but Low risks return to the forecast by Sunday night into Monday across a large portion of the corn-growing region as a potentially stronger system develops in the Plains.
