Alert Details

A weather system is expected to move through the corn-growing region early next week. Southerly winds in advance of this system may pose an isolated black cutworm migration risk initially from the Plains states as far east as Indiana and southwest lower Michigan, and also as far north as South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin by Sunday night into Monday morning. The primary risk area Monday night and Tuesday focuses a little further south and east, mainly from Kansas and Nebraska east as far as Ohio but mainly south of I-90. No additional risks are being predicted at this time, but any new flights over the next few weeks may impact some early-planted crops so we encourage growers to continue to monitor forecasts as flights will become more important in the coming weeks.
