Alert Details

Tropical Storm Barry is expected to move almost due north up the lower and mid-Mississippi River valley this weekend before curving northeast into the Ohio River valley early next week. It is possible that some corn earworm moths may get caught in the northward flow of this system and then drop out especially in the southern reaches of the corn-growing region early next week. For this reason, Low migration risks are in the forecast across southeast Missouri, Kentucky, southern Illinois, southern Indiana, and southwest Ohio early next week. Corn has more advanced growth especially from southeast Missouri into Kentucky so growers with corn at susceptible stages of damage should monitor traps/fields next week.
