Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks are predicted overnight tonight into tomorrow as a rather brief period of southwest winds ahead of a cold front affects fields from northern Kansas and Missouri into Nebraska, Iowa, southern Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin, and northwest Illinois. With northwest flow still the overall dominant pattern, any migration events historically have produced just isolated flights, thus the Low risk. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to damage, however, should continue to monitor traps and scout fields as recent moth flights may have occurred and new larvae may be present in some areas from flights earlier this month, as well. Little to no additional migration risk is in the forecast at this time after midday Thursday, primarily due to a lack of stronger southerly flow and uncertainties in the ultimate track/effects on the central United States weather pattern by Tropical Storm Dorian this weekend and into next week.
