Alert Details

Northwest flow is expected to dominate the corn-growing region weather over the next week, so any potential for corn earworm migration is expected to be brief and mainly isolated in nature due to the lack of sustained southerly flow. A cold front early-mid next week should bring a period of southerly winds into the central and western corn-growing region especially late Monday into Tuesday, and a Low corn earworm migration risk is predicted generally from northern Kansas and central Missouri northeast as far as South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin and east into Illinois. Otherwise, little to no risk is predicted but fresh market and processing growers, as well as latest planted field corn growers, should continue to monitor traps and scout fields as corn earworms may be present from earlier moth flights this month.
