Alert Details

A quick-moving cold front is expected to bring a period of south to southwest winds ahead of it late tomorrow into Thursday especially across the Plains states but potentially into Minnesota and Iowa, as well. For this reason, Low corn earworm migration risks are predicted from northern Kansas into Nebraska, western Iowa, South Dakota, southern North Dakota, and western Minnesota during this time. Otherwise, northwest flow is expected to dominate the weather pattern and little to no migration risk is predicted in the next five days. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to damage from corn earworms, however, should continue to monitor traps and scout fields as numerous potential flights and additional generations from flights earlier this summer are present in several regions.
