Alert Details

Northwest flow is expected to dominate the corn-growing region weather through the remainder of the week, but by late in the weekend and into next week, it does appear that a pattern change may be in store with an increase in southerly winds especially west of the Great Lakes initially. Given these factors and also a further north source region now that crops are near maturity in the mid-south and even into southern portions of the corn-growing region, we are issuing Low risks for the time being mainly from Lake Michigan and western Indiana west into the Plains states by late in the weekend and early next week. An upgrade to a Moderate risk may come by the end of the week if forecast confidence increases so stay tuned!
