Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast late this week and into next weekend as northwest flow transitions to zonal and southwest flow across the corn-growing region. Low risks are predicted Thursday night into Friday mainly west of the Mississippi River with risks then spreading east to Lake Michigan and into Illinois by Friday night into Saturday. Heat and humidity, along with nighttime and morning shower/storm chances, increase by this time and Low risks envelop much of the corn-growing region west of I-75 by Saturday night into Sunday. Given the time distance out and uncertainties with how quickly high pressure moves east out of the corn-growing region, only Low risks are predicted at this time but risk upgrades are likely later this week once confidence in placement of key features increases.
