Alert Details

Moderate corn earworm migration risks are predicted tonight into tomorrow from northern Iowa and southeast Minnesota east into Wisconsin, northern Illinois, northern Indiana, and southwest lower Michigan with Low risks surrounding the Moderate risk area from eastern Kansas and Nebraska as far east as southern Ontario, Canada and Ohio. A cold front is expected to slowly move southeast into the northern corn-growing region as Hurricane Laura approaches and makes landfall near the Texas and Louisiana border region tonight. South to southwest winds are expected to the east of the cold front, and the hurricane should be far enough south yet that any influence should be negligible further north. Given the overall pattern, a Moderate migration risk has been predicted although wind flow/speed may be marginal in some areas. Low risks continue in the forecast ahead of the cold front but also northeast of the track of Laura tomorrow night into Friday, mainly east of I-35 but south of the I-94 corridor. Once the front and remnants of the hurricane move east by late Friday, little to no risk is predicted thereafter as northwest flow and cooler temperatures settle in for the weekend.
