Alert Details

A strong cold front is expected to move through the corn-growing region this weekend into early next week. South to southwest winds ahead of this front may allow for some isolated moth flights into the Great Lakes region. The primary area of concern on Friday night into Saturday is across northeast Iowa into southeast Minnesota, Wisconsin, northern Illinois, northern Indiana, and southwest lower Michigan. As the front moves southeast, the risk focus shifts into lower Michigan, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, and also into southern Ontario, Canada Saturday night into Sunday. Little to no risk is predicted after this time as northwest flow locks back in, bringing unfavorable winds and much cooler weather next week. Fresh market and processing growers with crops still in fields/gardens should continue to monitor traps and scout fields until harvest.
