Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks are predicted initially across portions of the Plains states and western corn-growing region Thursday night into Friday as low pressure deepens across the far western Plains. A corridor of southerly winds is expected mainly west of the US 63 corridor from Missouri north into Iowa and south central Minnesota and points west into South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas along with at least some scattered precipitation which may lead to some isolated moth flights out of Texas and Oklahoma. Low risks then shift as far east as the I-57 corridor in Illinois and west of Lake Michigan Friday night into Saturday as a cold front begins moving east. With this system largely focused in a northwest flow weather pattern, widespread flights are not likely but are only expected on a more isolated basis.
