Alert Details

A cold front is expected to continue moving southeast today into tomorrow, and any corn earworm migration chances will focus southeast of this front. Showers and storms will likely form near the front later today, and so Low corn earworm migration risks will be found from southeast Kansas into Missouri, southeast Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, southern lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada where south to southwest winds are more likely. Overall, wind speeds and direction are not quite as favorable as the previous several days so the risk has been kept in the Low category. Little if any migration risk is in the forecast until late in the weekend and early next week, mainly west of I-35 in the Plains and western corn-growing region as southerly winds return ahead of the next weather system. Growers all across the corn-growing region are encouraged to continue checking traps and scouting fields as some new moth flights have likely occurred in isolated to scattered areas in the past week.
