Alert Details

A rather active weather pattern for mid-September is expected to continue for the next week or so and potentially beyond. Despite most field corn now past critical growth stages, monitoring of fresh market and processing crops especially in central and northern corn-growing regions should continue until harvest especially with periodic threats for new corn earworm moth arrivals. Low risks are found from eastern Nebraska and far eastern South Dakota as far east as the southern Great Lakes region from late Thursday into Saturday, with the risk then focusing mainly west of Lake Michigan from late Saturday into Sunday. Southerly winds are expected during this time and may occasionally be gusty which could allow some short-distance moth flights.
