Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks are predicted to return to a portion of the corn-growing region as early as Wednesday night through Thursday morning and should then persist through the weekend. The weather pattern should become more conducive to insect migration, however, southerly wind flow is not expected to be particularly strong due to weak high pressure to the east so only Low risks are predicted at this time. Initially, Low risks are in the forecast for Nebraska and Kansas Wednesday night into Thursday morning with the risk expanding north and east into portions of South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri (in addition to Nebraska and Kansas) by Thursday night and Friday morning. Thereafter, a continued slow expansion of the risk north/east is projected with areas as far north as I-94 in Minnesota and Wisconsin and east to I-57 in Illinois potentially seeing isolated corn earworm moth flights by the weekend.
