Alert Details

A dominant northwest flow weather pattern is predicted to stay in place across much of the Midwest until late in the week. Therefore, no corn earworm migration risks are predicted until Thursday night into Friday morning when the next low pressure system begins to develop in the Plains states and southerly winds return to western sections of the corn-growing region. Low risks are initially in place mainly west of the Mississippi River and south of I-90 at that time with the risk then spreading east to near Lake Michigan by Friday night and Saturday and into the eastern Midwest and southwest Ontario, Canada by Saturday night into Sunday. Growers all across the corn-growing region are encouraged to check their traps and any fields that are susceptible stages to damage as some corn earworm flights have occurred in the past few weeks.
