Alert Details

No risk of corn earworm migration is predicted in the next five days. The weather pattern is predicted to be dominated by northwest flow through early next week, so any southerly winds should be confined to the far western Plains and southern Plains region where corn earworm migration is not a concern at this time. Growers across the corn-growing region, however, should continue to monitor crops at susceptible stages to damage and larvae may still be present from earlier flights this summer. Farmers located across the lower Missouri and middle Mississippi River valleys from eastern Kansas into Missouri, central and southern Illinois, and also into southern Indiana may have seen new moths appear in the past few days, so traps should be checked more intensely in these areas as some isolated to scattered moth increases may be seen in the coming days.
