Alert Details

A rather potent cold front is expected to move through much of the corn-growing region early next week. Ahead of the front, a period of stout southerly winds is anticipated especially Sunday night into Monday morning across the Plains and western corn-growing region. A Low corn earworm migration risk has been issued for much of Kansas, Nebraska, western Iowa, and western Missouri during this time frame. Southerly winds will be originating in Texas which is a favorable source region this time of year. Despite the favorable weather pattern for migration, only Low risks are in the forecast given crop stage/time of year and continued favorable hosts in the south. No additional risks are in the forecast at this time.
