Alert Details

Corn rootworms will continue to provide a scattered threat to fields especially in northern areas where fresh silks may still be present. Beetle counts should be monitored in late planted fields where these silks are present and also in more isolated fields where beetles could congregate and cause localized problems. Fields from northeast Colorado into northern Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, central and northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, northern and central Indiana, northern Ohio, and southwest Ontario, Canada are all at risk in the next week. Growers all across the corn-growing region should monitor their crops even if they are past susceptible stages as high beetle counts, left untreated, may pose a threat to crops in the 2014 growing season.
