Alert Details

Initial corn rootworm hatch possibilities will continue to spread north in the coming week as soil temperature heat unit accumulations and additional warmth continue to increase across a portion of the corn-growing region. Fields from eastern Colorado into Kansas, southern through eastern Nebraska, northern Missouri, southern half of Iowa, portions of northern and central Illinois, northern and central Indiana, and western through central Ohio are all at risk now of seeing corn rootworm hatches either commence or continue. Additional hatches will be possible later this week and into next weekend especially across eastern Nebraska, northern Iowa, northwest and additional fields in northern Illinois, far southwest Wisconsin, southwest Michigan, far northern Indiana, and northern Ohio. Growers that are included in the risk area are urged to check their fields, both corn and soybeans, for signs of corn rootworm and be prepared to take necessary action if conditions warrant it.
