Alert Details

Corn rootworm beetles will continue to remain active in some fields across much of the corn-growing region. Area-wide scouting should continue especially in fields with silks as silk clipping will continue to be the primary threat. Fields from eastern Colorado into central and northern Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and into southern Ontario, Canada all remain at risk in the next week. Growers should monitor beetle populations in those fields at risk and be prepared to take any necessary action based on threshold values. Also, it is important to note where hot spots are occurring as planting decisions for next year may need to be adjusted based on rootworm beetle activity this year.
