Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatches are predicted to either commence or continue especially across portions of southeast into eastern Kansas this week. Additional hatches will also be possible in southwest and central Kansas by late week into next weekend. We may also see some corn rootworm hatches commence later this week and into next weekend across traditionally earliest hatching regions of central into southwest Illinois as well as far northwest and northeast Missouri, far eastern Illinois into western Indiana, and also potentially extending northwest into west-central Illinois and far southeast Iowa. Growers should begin to scout for newly hatched corn rootworms in these areas in the next week, both in corn and soybean fields. Volunteer corn may also pose problems, especially if there has historically been issues with corn rootworms in recent years.
