Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch will continue to be possible especially in fields along and north of I-90 in the next week, or from the Dakotas east into Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and potentially into southern Ontario, Canada. Additional hatches will be possible further to the south, as well, but warm to hot temperatures in the past few weeks should be reducing the threat in those areas at this time. The focus will shift to corn rootworm beetles further south as corn progresses through the silking stage. Growers with recent problems with corn rootworms or where corn rootworm larvae were observed this spring/early summer and also with fields now in the silking stage should monitor beetle populations and also for potential silk clipping in the coming weeks.
