Alert Details

High corn rootworm hatch risks continue across much of Kansas, southeast and eastern Nebraska, Missouri, central and southern Iowa, Illinois, far southern Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, and into southwest lower Michigan this week and into next weekend. The risk area does creep northward a little bit especially into northern Iowa, southern Wisconsin, and more so in lower Michigan and Ohio where warmer soil temperatures especially later in the week may result in a greater number of hatches in that region compared to further west where cooler temperatures are anticipated. Growers in or near the risk area should dig up roots and determine if any rootworm larvae populations are present. Corn rootworm pressure is expected to be varied this year, and should favor higher elevation and/or well-drained fields or those fields where water is no longer standing and where hatch is occurring.
