Alert Details

While the threat from corn rootworms damaging crops or reducing yields has largely passed for this growing season, growers are still encouraged to scout fields for the next week or so just to determine where beetle populations are present and especially where corn rootworm damage may have occurred this year. Taking note of where populations and/or damage directly related to corn rootworms is present now may affect planting intentions for next year. Fields mainly along and north of I-80 are of greatest concern at this point as harvest has commenced or will shortly especially south of that highway. Fields from far northeast Colorado into Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Illinois, Wisconsin, northern Indiana and Ohio, and into lower Michigan as well as southern Ontario, Canada is where remaining scouting efforts for this year is encouraged at this time.
