Alert Details

Corn rootworm risks have been lowered into the Low category for the next week and mainly focus along and north of I-90 where a higher percentage of the crop is not at maturity yet compared to further south. Fields in Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, northern Iowa, Wisconsin, and lower Michigan as well as into southern Ontario, Canada may still be worth scouting for the next week. Even in the northern areas, however, the overall threat from rootworms has passed for this year but growers are still encouraged to scout late or re-plant fields as some local populations may still exist. In all areas, it will be important for growers to note where beetle populations and/or rootworm damage was observed, as this could affect next year’s planting intentions.
