Alert Details

High corn rootworm hatch and beetle population risks continue across virtually all of the corn-growing region for the next week. The primary focus now is shifting more into beetle emergence and increasing population issues as most hatches are now complete even in the far north areas (North Dakota into northwest Minnesota). In areas where corn rootworms are present, beetle populations are expected to increase in the coming week potentially as far north as into the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and lower Michigan. Growers should continue to dig up roots but in more advanced areas, beetle populations should be monitored closely especially in areas that are drier and more susceptible to potential damage (Dakotas, Minnesota, and other more scattered areas that are below or near average on rainfall).
