Alert Details

Corn rootworm beetle count risks remain in the High category for the next week across virtually all of the corn-growing region. While problems are likely to be more scattered in nature and dependent on local conditions, there have been numerous reports of beetle counts reaching or exceeding threshold values in several areas and all growers should be on the lookout for locally high beetle populations. Fields from eastern Colorado into Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada should continue scouting efforts. Even if populations are not at critical stages, it will be important to note where beetles are present as this may affect next year’s plans/crop rotation.
