Alert Details

Soybean aphid risks are now in the Moderate category especially from the eastern Dakotas into Minnesota, Wisconsin, and northern Iowa as aphid populations continue to increase, at least on a scattered basis, and where the weather is predicted to be favorable for population increases in the next week. Low risks extend from North and South Dakota into northeast Nebraska, northern and central Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, northern Illinois, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, lower Michigan, northwest Pennsylvania, and into southern Ontario, Canada. With an increasingly larger number of soybean fields now firmly in reproductive (blossom) stage or later, growers are urged to monitor soybean aphid populations very closely over the next few weeks and be prepared to take necessary action based on what is occurring in your fields and not necessarily what the local/regional insect report is saying is occurring in your area. Populations can build quickly, especially with moderate temperatures and a lack of beating rains.
