Alert Details

Low soybean aphid development risks are in the forecast for the next week across a portion of the northern Plains into the upper Midwest. Fields from the eastern Dakotas into Minnesota, far northern into northeast Iowa, and Wisconsin are included in the risk area. Soybean aphids are present in soybean fields at varying population densities across the upper Midwest. Favorable weather for additional development is possible especially later this week into next weekend, so growers should begin monitoring population dynamics especially in earliest planted fields now entering into reproductive growth stages and also those fields where soybean aphid populations have been observed. While there are established economic threshold populations for soybean aphids, it is more important to scout and monitor plant populations and anticipated weather into the future to plan any necessary treatment as populations can double in a day or two with favorable weather.
