Alert Details

Soybean aphid egg hatch risks continue their northward expansion as warm weather over the weekend will likely spur additional hatches further to the north into the primary overwintering region for this particular insect. Egg hatch risks now extend into all of eastern South Dakota, southern Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin, all of northern Illinois, and by late week additional hatches are likely as far north as central Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, southern lower Michigan, and also into more scattered overwintering zones in far northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. While there is no threat to any fields or crops with this egg hatch risk, it does make growers aware that soybean aphids are likely beginning their growth cycles, as well, and future weather conditions will become more important to ultimate soybean aphid populations this summer.
