Alert Details

Moderate soybean aphid risks continue from eastern North Dakota, northeast South Dakota, across much of Minnesota, and into far northern Iowa in the next week. Low risks extend from the central Dakotas southeast through the remainder of Minnesota, far northeast Nebraska, northern Iowa, east into Wisconsin, and finally east into central and eastern lower Michigan as well as into southern Ontario, Canada. Growers located in a risk area should continue to scout soybeans through the R6 growth stage – after that point, soybean aphids have not shown to result in any yield losses so scouting will no longer be necessary this growing season. It is also encouraged that growers scout their own fields and not rely on just what their neighbor says to determine if treatment is necessary or not – aphid populations can be very sporadic even across short distances.
