The annual western bean cutworm emergence and flight is ongoing across a large portion of the corn-growing region with additional fields likely experiencing or are expected to see peak flight in the next week or so. High risks remain across portions of northeast and eastern Nebraska and Iowa in addition to northwest Ohio, northeast Indiana, and southern Michigan for the next few days. The high risk area expands across much of Iowa by the end of the week and into next weekend with additional fields in central lower Michigan and east into far southwest Ontario, Canada added to the high risk region as well. Moderate risks will continue across portions of Nebraska, Iowa, far southeast Minnesota, far northern Missouri and Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Ontario, Canada. Growers that are located especially in a Moderate or High risk region are encouraged to monitor their fields for western bean cutworm activity in the next few weeks.
