Western bean cutworm peak flight is expected to continue especially across the Great Lakes region and into Ontario and Quebec, Canada the next five days. To the west of the Great Lakes, however, peak flight has likely already occurred in many fields and risk levels/coverage areas are subsequently being reduced. High risks remain across portions of Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and Wisconsin to the west of Lake Michigan and in lower Michigan, northern Ohio, northern Pennsylvania/New York, and Ontario, Canada to the east of the lake. Moderate risks remain in Iowa, Minnesota, far northern Illinois, Wisconsin, northeast Indiana, lower Michigan, northern/central Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania and New York, and also Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada in the next five days. Growers in High and Moderate risk areas are urged to scout their fields for the presence of western bean cutworm moths and potential egg-laying/hatching and new larvae emergence.
