Alert Details

The annual peak flight of western bean cutworms is ongoing across portions of the northeastern corn-growing region and into southern Canada. High risks continue for the next five days from southeast Michigan and northern Ohio northeast into northwest Pennsylvania and New York in addition to Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada. Moderate risks surround the High risk area from central Michigan and northwest Ohio northeast through the Great Lakes region into Canada. A moderate risk also remains in Wisconsin for another day but with declining trap counts and peak flight already completed in this area, the main focus for this particular insect will remain focused in the eastern Great Lakes region from this point forward. Growers especially in the eastern Great Lakes region are urged to monitor their crops for potential signs of western bean cutworms over the course of the next few weeks.
