Alert Details

High and Moderate western bean cutworm risks remain from northeast Ohio into northwest Pennsylvania and New York in addition to Ontario and southwest Quebec in Canada as this insect completes its annual flight. Growers in the High and Moderate risk areas need to remain especially vigilant and monitor their fields closely for signs of western bean cutworms (moths, eggs, larvae) in the next few weeks. Low risks remain focused from lower Michigan and northeast Indiana into northwest Ohio but all risks associated with this insect will be focused to the east of Lake Michigan by early next week with a fairly rapid decline in risk areas and levels expected in the next couple weeks further to the east and northeast as crops advance past critical damage stages and as trap counts decrease with the conclusion of peak flight.
