Alert Details

The annual western bean cutworm peak flight is now subsiding across much of the corn-growing region. Trap counts and field reports still indicate moth presence and the continued threat for damage especially across portions of northeast lower Michigan for the next couple days and into next week across portions of southern Ontario, Canada where High risks are in place. Moderate risks continue across central and northern Wisconsin for the next two days and also across northeast and eastern lower Michigan and southern Ontario, Canada and southwest Quebec, Canada into next week. As the flight continues to subside, risks will continue to be lessened across much of the region. Until that time, however, growers are urged to continue to monitor their crops for western bean cutworm activity and take appropriate action, if needed.
