Alert Details

Western bean cutworms continue to cause scattered issues as they move through their annual flight. The greatest pressure at the present time is located across portions of Michigan and into southern Ontario, Canada, as the flight is now subsiding further south and west. Moderate risks remain in place across a portion of Nebraska and also into Wisconsin, but as the flight subsides, these areas are likely to be removed from the risk in the next week or so. Moderate risks remain in place across far northern Indiana into extreme northwest Ohio, southern and central lower Michigan, and across southern Ontario, Canada where pressure remains the highest. The southern end of the Great Lakes region risk has been trimmed from the forecast as early as late this week and next weekend as pressure is subsiding in these areas, as well. Growers from central into southeast lower Michigan as well as southern Ontario, Canada should continue to actively scout corn and dry bean fields and take appropriate action based on field level scouting in the next few weeks. Elsewhere, in other risk areas, late planted fields should continue to be monitored, as well, especially if the flight locally is still present.
