Alert Details

Corn rootworm beetle risks will continue for the next week into next weekend across much of the corn-growing region. Fields in northeast Colorado, northern Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, far northern Missouri, central and northern Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada should all continue to be scouted for corn rootworm beetle populations. Even if beetle populations do not reach or exceed thresholds for treatment, population locations should be noted as it could indicate a potential need to alter planting intentions for next year. Fresh silking corn will be the most favored fields for corn rootworms, so silk clipping is most likely the further north into the corn-growing region one goes at this point based on crop growth at the present time.
