Alert Details

Soybean aphid pressure will remain a possibility especially in the eastern Dakotas and portions of Minnesota over the next week. The overall threat further south, however, appears to have subsided especially taking in current soybean growth stages. The primary area of concern is across eastern North Dakota, northeast South Dakota, and into western, central, and portions of southeast Minnesota where a Moderate risk remains in place this week into next weekend. Low risks extend further south to near the South Dakota/Nebraska border and into northern Iowa, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and southern Ontario, Canada. Growers located especially in the Moderate risk area should continue to actively scout soybean fields especially if the field is still in a growth stage earlier than R5-R6. Any decisions to treat the field should be based on what is occurring in specific fields and not necessarily on what aphid populations in neighbors’ or even adjacent fields are doing as populations can and do vary considerably even in fields right next to each other.
