Alert Details

Moderate soybean aphid population risks remain in the forecast across eastern South Dakota, southeastern North Dakota, much of Minnesota, far northern Iowa, and western/central Wisconsin with Low risks from the central Dakotas into far northeast Nebraska, northern Iowa, extreme northwest Illinois, and the remainder of Wisconsin not already included in the Moderate risk. Soybean aphid populations are generally quite variable but some fields have needed treatment in recent weeks due to over threshold populations and crop stage. Growers located in or near the Moderate risk areas are encouraged to continue regular scouting on the field level, and not necessarily make any treatment decisions based on the neighbor’s field as populations will vary quite a bit from field to field. Scouting should continue until soybeans are at least in the R5-R6 growth stage, but after that yield loss is pretty minimal.
