Alert Details

Adult corn rootworm beetle problems and silk-clipping in late or re-planted fields will continue to be a possibility especially along and north of I-80 in the next week. Fields from Nebraska into South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Illinois, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, far northern Indiana and Ohio, and southern Ontario, Canada will be at risk. Growers should monitor beetle counts especially in those fields still at risk but also in other fields that may just be past critical threshold as high beetle counts may indicate the need to consider changing planting practices next growing season. Corn rootworm problems have been more scattered this growing season but still locally intense in some areas of the corn-growing region.
