Alert Details

No risk of corn earworm migration is predicted until late in the week and into next weekend as the overall weather pattern remains rather stagnant and wind speeds are expected to continue to be rather light or from a non-optimal direction for any migration probabilities. A developing High Plains low pressure system is in the forecast by late week, and this system should spread southerly winds back into mainly the Plains and western corn-growing region by Friday into Saturday. As a result, Low migration risks have been placed in the forecast along and west of I-35 at that time. Otherwise, growers with crops at susceptible stages should continue to monitor traps and scout fields and take appropriate action where needed as recent intense flights have left high corn earworm populations in many upper Midwest and Great Lakes fields in the past several weeks.
