Alert Details

Low black cutworm migration risks return to the forecast tomorrow night into Wednesday as a low pressure system deepens across the High Plains states, and as high pressure moves off into the eastern United States. Modest southerly wind flow is likely to develop later tomorrow initially in the Plains states before spreading north and east. Only Low risks are in place given an overall pattern that is dominated by westerly to northwesterly flow and an overall weaker wind regime compared to last week’s weather systems as well as generally cooler temperatures overall. Low risks do spread east into the southern Great Lakes region Wednesday night into Thursday as a cold front moves southeast before focusing mainly along/south of I-80 by late week as this same front becomes oriented west to east and is expected to move very little. Regardless of periodic to numerous rain chances near this front late week, the overall wind flow pattern does not support more than Low migration risks at this time but we will monitor.
