Alert Details

Low black cutworm migration risks return to the forecast later in the week as a more prolonged potential period of south to southwest winds ahead of a cold front is expected. Initial risks are mainly along/west of the Mississippi River Thursday night into Friday, and then focusing further east by Friday night into Saturday, potentially as far east as the I-75 corridor. The dominant overall weather pattern, however, is still northwesterly so widespread migration prospects are not anticipated but more on the isolated side. Growers all across the corn-growing region, however, should be scouting especially where corn is emerging or has emerged, which is becoming a greater percentage by the day in many areas.
