Alert Details

No risk of black cutworm migration is predicted until we get into the early-middle portion of next week. By that time, a potentially strong low pressure system is expected to develop across the Plains states while high pressure drifts into the southeastern United States. In between these two pressure centers, a rather stout southwest wind is predicted especially across Texas but also north into portions of the mid-south. For this forecast issuance, a Low black cutworm migration risk is focused across primarily eastern Texas where some corn has been planted in the past several weeks. Any additional risks are being held at bay due to recent heavy to excessive rainfall across much of the southern United States which has delayed planting in many areas, and may also result in some re-planting in some fields.
