Black Cutworm
Black cutworm migration risks are expected to become more numerous as we head into late week and especially by next weekend and into early next week as an active weather pattern continues across the corn-growing region. Low risks are in place tomorrow night into Thursday morning across far northern Kentucky, extreme eastern Indiana, Ohio, far southeast lower Michigan, and into extreme southern Ontario, Canada as south to southwest winds may provide an opportunity for some isolated black cutworm moth flights into this region. Looking ahead to the weekend, Low risks are in place from northern Kansas and Missouri as far north as central Minnesota and Wisconsin by Saturday night into Sunday morning as low pressure deepens across the Plains states and southerly winds increase to its east. We expect additional risks and possible upgrades in subsequent forecasts given the expected strength of this system so stay tuned.
