Alert Details

A strong storm system will move through the corn-growing region this weekend. The low pressure area is expected to track from the south central portion of the corn-growing region in Missouri north along the Mississippi River or just to the west, so the heaviest rainfall and strongest south to southwest winds should occur to the east of the low pressure track. With heavy rainfall expected from the black cutworm source region in the mid-south and southern corn-growing region all the way north and northeast into the central and eastern corn-growing region, only Low migration risks are in place from tomorrow night into Sunday morning mainly east of a Springfield, Missouri to Peoria, Illinois to Grand Rapids, Michigan line and generally along and east of I-57 in far eastern Illinois and points east Sunday night into Monday morning as a cold front moves east. No additional risks are predicted early-mid next week once this system passes, but growers should continue to monitor traps for potential new flights.
