Black Cutworm
A rather strong low pressure system will develop and move northeast from the Plains states into the corn-growing region by mid-week this week. South to southwest winds will increase ahead of this low pressure system and cold front, and may pose an isolated black cutworm migration risk for the next couple nights especially across portions of the south, including eastern Texas, southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas, and western Louisiana. With corn planting increasing in this area and some corn emerging especially across Texas, there may be a risk for some black cutworm problems in a few weeks once enough heat units have accumulated. No additional risks are predicted by late week and into next weekend as wind flow returns back to the north and northwest.
